Since it's introduction to the United States in 1958, the Nuclear industry has grown to 94 nuclear reactors at 56 nuclear power plants in 28 states. These plants handle roughly 20% of the total electricity generation. With their use of fission (the splitting of uranium atoms in a nuclear reactor), any failures with in the operation of the plant can pose a very dangerous situation.
